LG INNOVATION AT ITS BEST

When one thinks of design, the first image one paints is the look and feel of something. Whether it’s the couch you want to buy for Christmas or that sleek four door car that you saw at the showroom. Everything around us has its own unique design.
Designers to look at the term ‘design’ from many angles. Whether it is choosing the ideal material, creating the ideal consumer experience or boosting efficiency, the designer of any product has a number of things to consider when coming up with a new product.
How customers interact with the product is key for the designer. From shapes to sizes of the product, designers should not put in too much emphasis on how the product looks, yet, they should think of how the consumer shall use it. LG stays ahead of the game when it comes to this. The rear-facing innovative buttons on LG smartphones is an example of the out-of-box thinking that has opened up possibilities for the phone to be slimmer.
When coming up with a new product, ta consumer’s first impression goes a long way in determining their opinion of a particular product. Designers use a number of ways to ensure this is achieved such as the quality, texture and premium look of the product. Such are the wide range of LG refrigerators that are translucent allowing the user to have a glimpse of what is inside, or the LG Door –to – Door refrigerators that assist in reducing loss of cold.
Speaking at a recent conference, LG’s Marketing Manager Mr.Marji said, "At  LG, we strive to bring out the best in every product we put out in the market, whether it’s a phone or a refrigerator, our standards of high quality and value have to be maintained.”
With the production of portable devices on the rise, one cannot neglect the need for battery-powered portable electronics that are small and lightweight which perform on par with their counterparts. Such is the LF Musicflow portable speaker and minibeam projectors that are versatile and allow users to experience the product in their own comfort and on the go. Battery life is also key when it comes to such devices, capable of operating for 20 hours on a single charge, the LG sound pop 360 is an example of the unique design LG has been able to innovate in this new era of portable devices.
With no doubt LG goes to the limit of creating a unified consumer experience with each and every product they set out to create.

LG trendsetting in Customer-Centric Technology

LG East Africa General Manager Marketing Moses Marji (Right) explains the features of the newly launched LG 4K OLED TV in the Kenyan Market to a customer Edith Onyango (Left)
Innovation is becoming more and more sophisticated with each passing year. But more importantly, companies are adding customer-centric technologies to their technology mix with a sole purpose of creating a unified consumer experience that will make their customers feel personally connected to brands.

Companies have shifted from a competitive landscape in which they are more exclusively focused on external forces affecting their industries and sectors, to one that has become significantly more customer centric and that creates mass appeal. Every company of any scale and in any sector wants to be closer to its customers, to understand them more deeply, and to tailor their products and services to serve them more precisely.

One such company that has taken the first step in response to the rapid advance of intuitive technology, and increase in intensive customer focus ahead of the competition, is LG Electronics that has focused on incremental delivery of new capabilities to its products that can respond very quickly to new or changing customer needs with the aim to increase customer intimacy.

LG differentiates itself from the competition with its consumer centric philosophy which considers ergonomic principles while still paying close attention to style and elegance, for instance, the rear -facing buttons on LG smartphones exemplify the company’s willingness to embrace outside- the -box thinking in order to enhance the user experience. These innovations open up many new possibilities for users, and allow designers to make LG smartphones even slimmer.

Other examples of LG‘s ergonomic expertise are apparent across the company’s diverse product line up. Whether its tilting a front –loading washing machine’s drum by six degrees to make it easier and efficient to load and unload, the intuitive arrangement of appliance control panels, the form fitting brilliance of the company’s Tone Bluetooth headsets, the flexibility provided by the corded zero line of vacuum cleaners or the newly launched LG Oled TVs with an aesthetic streamlined design which compliments their utility, LG products provide top notch performance, comfort and convenience.

So, what drives LG ahead of competition in innovation that personalizes the consumer needs? LG East Africa Marketing Manager Moses Marji explains how innovation and sophistication remain the company’s top priority; “Our robust Research and Design department work tirelessly to deliver fundamentally different and better user experiences with the vast of our products ranging from Home appliances, Home entertainment to smartphones. As LG, we continuously seek to bring our innovative and design thinking muscles to explore on how our customers experience could be better in the future.”

Marji further notes that LG is alive to the fact that the way consumers interacts with products is fundamental in shaping the user experience, making ergonomics a design priority for products of all sizes and shapes.

Holidays are about togetherness, because life is good

The holiday season is finally here, and families all around the world are preparing for an activity that has become the epicenter of the modern-day holiday experience—shopping.
Nevertheless, social commentators argue that shopping, and to a greater extent consumerism, are taking the human warmth out of the holidays and replacing people with gadgets and “things”.
Hot ticket items like smartphones and other modern technological gadgets have further been accused of isolating people rather than bringing them together.
This, however, is a narrow view of technology that doesn’t explore the vast potential for technology to bring people together during the holidays. For instance, advanced kitchen appliances can reduce the time spent in kitchen chores and free up the family for quality time.
Time is the currency that affords you lasting memories during the holidays—but so does good food!
What is a holiday without good food? Here in Kenya it is almost taboo to go on holiday without adding a few inches to your waistline. However, spending time in the kitchen preparing a sumptuous meal can mean that you have less time for your family. This is an especially touchy issue for women, the natural home-makers in Kenya.
During this festive season, Kenyan women need time to not only build togetherness in their families, but also make mouth-watering delicacies. The solution for this is time-saving kitchen appliances.
Top of mind is LG Electronics’ Lightwave convection ovens and electric induction cooktops that allow users to prepare delicious, healthy dishes in a fraction of the time required by conventional appliances.

Saves time, cause life is good
“I think I already know what I want this holiday. The LG Lightwave convection ovens. I want my family to enjoy the best dishes and still have time to spend together,” said Moses Marji, LG Marketing Manager.
Using your smartphone you can check out the oven’s specifications and even scout for good deals online. American shopping events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have taken on a global twist and are quickly becoming a global phenomenon, and e-commerce firms and other major retailers in Kenya are now offering Kenyan equivalents to capture bargain hunters.
Although the thrill of snagging good bargains is memorable, even more memorable are the shared experiences and warm feelings of togetherness that families and friends share during the holiday season.
This makes it all the more important to put time-saving LG kitchen appliances at the top of the shopping list this festive season. They will save you time in the kitchen and give you more time with your family. Holidays are about spending time together, because life is good.

GIFTING YOUR LOVED ONES MADE EASIER BY LG

It’s that time of the season again. Phone calls by “mummy” to book the hotel accommodations for the family, “ Daddy “busy up and down trying to get the car all serviced up for the long journey ahead… well you guessed it, the festive season is back!
One can clearly see the hustle and bustle to get a gift or two for their loved ones when you enter a mall or shop. From clothes to technology to games, anything and everything passes when it comes to the festive season, as we all try to keep up with the latest trends in town.
Technology in the modern world has its way in bringing togetherness in the family and friends to. One of such is the television. As the world becomes more connected, the TV is one form of technology that has brought masses of people together. Whether it is watching a football game or the latest series, memories are created day by day. Why not get the revolutionary OLED TV for you and your family this holiday. With increased picture quality and increased angle views, this is one way you can bring the family together.
With the perfect picture quality in place, one cannot comfortably watch television without audio, audio that is of high quality and premium sound. The innovative LG sound bar and 360 degree portable speakers are portable and is easy and light to carry around, capable of connecting to your TV and other technological devices such as phones; a suitable gift for the children as they listen to their music and watch movies.
They say the heart of a woman in the home is the kitchen. From the design to the set-up, one can clearly see the lady’s input into it. And what better way to complete the kitchen with LG’s kitchen appliances that deliver quality, design and efficiency. The advanced Door-to-Door fridges are able to store leftovers for longer periods of time, leaving minimal space for food going bad. The LG Lightwave connection ovens are able to deliver meals within time as compared to other appliances, making it convenient and affordable at the same time. What a way to gift the lady of the home this holiday.
With the festive season around the corner, let us make Life Good by appreciating our loved ones!

LG lauded for its role in environmental conservation

KWS Staff joins LG staff during the clean up exercise at Lake Elementaita  -A world heritage site
LG Electronics has been lauded by Kenya wildlife service (KWS) for upholding it values on setting the standards in environmental conservation in Kenya following the cleanup exercise in Lake Elementaita- A world heritage site that also marked the UN world environmental day.

The exercise that costed over USD 5,000, involved collecting litter along the Lake shores and donating waste bins and signboards for clean environment awareness.

A team of more than 30 people lead by LG East Africa marketing manager Moses Marji and joined by KWS staff and the community, covered a distance of 9.5 KM along the lake shores in a bid to keeping the Lake Elementaitra at the Peak of Beauty. The Lake has in the past experienced moderate levels of pollution from visitors on the shores.

Commenting on the exercise, Moses Marji said that LG aims to protect the local environment in all its activities and that the cleanup exercise was a symbolic gesture to show affection and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

“Effective Corporate Social Responsibility is all about connecting the dots by bringing people together and engaging them through  conversations and action that will lead to a better environment to live in. Our drive as LG is designed to emphasize on the importance of collective action to make the world a cleaner place.” Marji said.

As a World Natural Heritage—site, there is no doubt that the cultural significance of Lake Elementaita is a direct result of its natural beauty. The lake system is home to 13 globally threatened bird species and some of the highest bird diversities in the world. It is the single most important foraging site for the lesser flamingo anywhere, and a major nesting and breeding ground for great white pelicans.

“The test for Kenya in the years to come will be whether its people can continue to preserve and protect the authenticity of this important landmark, which is viewed as a national symbol.” He added.

LG SUPPORTS A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR JACKLINE MWENDE.

When it comes to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) by companies there are five main principles applied for effective CSR communication which is transparency, authenticity, engagement, shared value and storytelling.
Recently when a case was filed against Domestic Violence victim Jackline Mwende’s husband for allegedly chopping off her hands, LG saw the opportunity in giving back to the society in assisting her to be fitted with myoelectric prostheses.
Myoelectric” is the term for electric properties of muscles. A myoelectric-controlled prosthesis is an externally powered artificial limb that one can control with the electrical signals generated naturally by your one’s own muscles.
This procedure took place on the 26th of September 2016 as Mwende was jetted to South Korea for the procedure. While there, she was taught on how to use her newly acquired artificial limbs which doctors advised would take some time to adapt to.
She was welcomed back to the country with open arms on the 10th of October 2016 in which there was a press briefing held. “Now I can go back to my daily routine all because of LG although I have not yet adapted to the artificial limbs” Mwende was quoted.
Through this long journey, LG was with Mwende in every step, from footing her bill at the P.C.E.A Kikuyu hospital to covering her bills to travel to and fro South Korea and being fitted with the artificial limbs. LG also promised to provide her with a generator which she could be able to charge the artificial limbs as there is no electricity where she resides.
“LG is committed in seeing Mwende’s recovery and we shall support her in every step of the journey to recovery so that she can live a better life. It is not an easy scenario in dealing with having no limbs anymore but we have tried our level best in making her have hope for a better tomorrow.” said LG Electronics General Marketing Manager Mr. Moses Marji.
Having had an established relationship for over ten years with P.C.E.A Kikuyu Hospital  in assisting people in acquiring artificial limbs, LG clearly aims in assisting the community for a brighter tomorrow as it has interacted with over five hundred people in such scenarios.
