Creating the future with Samsung

What does the future hold? Back in the 1950s, Doris Day answered that question with a simple lyric: “Que será, será, whatever will be, will be.” Her cheerful brand of fatalism encouraged a generation to let go of their worries and let the future unfold as it may. As the world now enters a new era of uncertainty, Samsung refuses to accept those laissez-faire lyrics with a promise to empower people to create their own future.

In the spirit of this approach, Samsung is launching its own brand campaign to kick off a year that will both celebrate the 10th anniversary of Galaxy smartphones and set the foundation for the next decade of new, innovative and groundbreaking products.

The campaign flips the carefree lyrics of the classic song on its head by juxtaposing them with Samsung’s bold leadership stance: What we create today empowers you to create the future. The campaign builds on Samsung’s “Do What You Can’t” philosophy in a video that highlights potential breakthrough technologies – including seamless multi-device experiences, artificial intelligence, and radical new displays – and teases Samsung’s 5G products and foldable display technology to be launched later this year.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, fashion designer or mobile gamer, Samsung is blazing the trail for change by bringing innovation to a wide variety of industries. Check out the video below to see how Samsung is reshaping the future for its users.

Samsung’s new Family Hub Refrigerator Debuts a New Standard in Connectivity with Next Generation of AI and IoT capabilities

The Family Hub helps foster true family connection, food management, and a connected home experience in today’s fast-paced modern world.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the next generation of its award-winning Family Hub refrigerator. The refrigerator which is redefining the refrigerator category continues to set a new standard for connected living, bringing the family together in the kitchen while freeing users to focus on what’s important to them.
As the new generation of homeowners look to technology to define both who they are and how they want to live their lives, there is no better place to do this than in a connected kitchen. The Family Hub refrigerator offers the simplified connectivity modern homeowners are accustomed to. Families can now focus on the things that matter most to them.
The Family Hub helps foster true family connection, food management, and a connected home experience in today’s fast-paced modern world. Mr. Odhiambo, Head of Consumer Electronics admits that we are still at the nascent stages when it comes to exploiting the benefits of IoT (the internet of things), but reveals that Samsung Electronics is at the forefront of the unfolding revolution. He says, “Mobile technology was designed to be taken everywhere, keeping us connected no matter where we go. At Samsung, we have tried to ensure that the technology not only integrates with home appliances but also with our cars and security systems. Last year, Samsung launched the SmartThings Cloud, a platform that brings all our IoT devices and services in one platform where a user can control them using a single app.”
All of this appears on the Family Hub refrigerator screen so they can see as well as hear it. And through Bixby’s voice ID technology, each family member’s voice is distinguished, so everyone can get tailored information for their individual needs. Bixby is even smarter and more conversational – allowing users to interact more naturally. Users now can search for a plane ticket through Expedia, call an Uber and pre-set the oven temperature just by talking to the Family Hub.
Some Samsung IOT devices are readily available in the local market .Of particular mention, however, is Samsung’s Q-LED TV that has the ability to change its colour so as to suit its surroundings. The TV can be used as a screen to view footage from around the house and inside the refrigerator, as well as a centre for directing other appliances in the home. Its remote control can also be used to control other devices such as the sound system and the DVD player. Such a TV, at present, will cost you slightly more than 200,000 Kenya shillings. Refrigerators, washing machines and vacuum cleaners that are IoT ready are not yet in this market but the Company plans to see this happen in 2020.
The smart refrigerator, which suggests recipes for you and reminds you when you need to restock certain foodstuff, will only set you back a little over a quarter of a million Kenya shillings and is available on order.
