Holidays are about togetherness, because life is good

The holiday season is finally here, and families all around the world are preparing for an activity that has become the epicenter of the modern-day holiday experience—shopping.
Nevertheless, social commentators argue that shopping, and to a greater extent consumerism, are taking the human warmth out of the holidays and replacing people with gadgets and “things”.
Hot ticket items like smartphones and other modern technological gadgets have further been accused of isolating people rather than bringing them together.
This, however, is a narrow view of technology that doesn’t explore the vast potential for technology to bring people together during the holidays. For instance, advanced kitchen appliances can reduce the time spent in kitchen chores and free up the family for quality time.
Time is the currency that affords you lasting memories during the holidays—but so does good food!
What is a holiday without good food? Here in Kenya it is almost taboo to go on holiday without adding a few inches to your waistline. However, spending time in the kitchen preparing a sumptuous meal can mean that you have less time for your family. This is an especially touchy issue for women, the natural home-makers in Kenya.
During this festive season, Kenyan women need time to not only build togetherness in their families, but also make mouth-watering delicacies. The solution for this is time-saving kitchen appliances.
Top of mind is LG Electronics’ Lightwave convection ovens and electric induction cooktops that allow users to prepare delicious, healthy dishes in a fraction of the time required by conventional appliances.

Saves time, cause life is good
“I think I already know what I want this holiday. The LG Lightwave convection ovens. I want my family to enjoy the best dishes and still have time to spend together,” said Moses Marji, LG Marketing Manager.
Using your smartphone you can check out the oven’s specifications and even scout for good deals online. American shopping events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have taken on a global twist and are quickly becoming a global phenomenon, and e-commerce firms and other major retailers in Kenya are now offering Kenyan equivalents to capture bargain hunters.
Although the thrill of snagging good bargains is memorable, even more memorable are the shared experiences and warm feelings of togetherness that families and friends share during the holiday season.
This makes it all the more important to put time-saving LG kitchen appliances at the top of the shopping list this festive season. They will save you time in the kitchen and give you more time with your family. Holidays are about spending time together, because life is good.

LG lauded for its role in environmental conservation

KWS Staff joins LG staff during the clean up exercise at Lake Elementaita  -A world heritage site
LG Electronics has been lauded by Kenya wildlife service (KWS) for upholding it values on setting the standards in environmental conservation in Kenya following the cleanup exercise in Lake Elementaita- A world heritage site that also marked the UN world environmental day.

The exercise that costed over USD 5,000, involved collecting litter along the Lake shores and donating waste bins and signboards for clean environment awareness.

A team of more than 30 people lead by LG East Africa marketing manager Moses Marji and joined by KWS staff and the community, covered a distance of 9.5 KM along the lake shores in a bid to keeping the Lake Elementaitra at the Peak of Beauty. The Lake has in the past experienced moderate levels of pollution from visitors on the shores.

Commenting on the exercise, Moses Marji said that LG aims to protect the local environment in all its activities and that the cleanup exercise was a symbolic gesture to show affection and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

“Effective Corporate Social Responsibility is all about connecting the dots by bringing people together and engaging them through  conversations and action that will lead to a better environment to live in. Our drive as LG is designed to emphasize on the importance of collective action to make the world a cleaner place.” Marji said.

As a World Natural Heritage—site, there is no doubt that the cultural significance of Lake Elementaita is a direct result of its natural beauty. The lake system is home to 13 globally threatened bird species and some of the highest bird diversities in the world. It is the single most important foraging site for the lesser flamingo anywhere, and a major nesting and breeding ground for great white pelicans.

“The test for Kenya in the years to come will be whether its people can continue to preserve and protect the authenticity of this important landmark, which is viewed as a national symbol.” He added.

LG SUPPORTS A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR JACKLINE MWENDE.

When it comes to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) by companies there are five main principles applied for effective CSR communication which is transparency, authenticity, engagement, shared value and storytelling.
Recently when a case was filed against Domestic Violence victim Jackline Mwende’s husband for allegedly chopping off her hands, LG saw the opportunity in giving back to the society in assisting her to be fitted with myoelectric prostheses.
Myoelectric” is the term for electric properties of muscles. A myoelectric-controlled prosthesis is an externally powered artificial limb that one can control with the electrical signals generated naturally by your one’s own muscles.
This procedure took place on the 26th of September 2016 as Mwende was jetted to South Korea for the procedure. While there, she was taught on how to use her newly acquired artificial limbs which doctors advised would take some time to adapt to.
She was welcomed back to the country with open arms on the 10th of October 2016 in which there was a press briefing held. “Now I can go back to my daily routine all because of LG although I have not yet adapted to the artificial limbs” Mwende was quoted.
Through this long journey, LG was with Mwende in every step, from footing her bill at the P.C.E.A Kikuyu hospital to covering her bills to travel to and fro South Korea and being fitted with the artificial limbs. LG also promised to provide her with a generator which she could be able to charge the artificial limbs as there is no electricity where she resides.
“LG is committed in seeing Mwende’s recovery and we shall support her in every step of the journey to recovery so that she can live a better life. It is not an easy scenario in dealing with having no limbs anymore but we have tried our level best in making her have hope for a better tomorrow.” said LG Electronics General Marketing Manager Mr. Moses Marji.
Having had an established relationship for over ten years with P.C.E.A Kikuyu Hospital  in assisting people in acquiring artificial limbs, LG clearly aims in assisting the community for a brighter tomorrow as it has interacted with over five hundred people in such scenarios.

LG Electronics rides on camera quality to drive smartphone sales

Presently, Electronics giant LG is riding high with LG V20, a smart phone that is setting the pace on smartphone photography.
The LG V20 uses a dual-lens camera; instead of one sensor on the back of the phone you have two. The LG V20 features wide-angle lenses on the front and back of the handset. This, combined with the two rear facing cameras enables the device to deliver 360 Degree multiple panoramic shots.
The wide-angle lens lets you take truly stunning action photos of things right in front of you. The wide angle capabilities of the front and rear cameras capture action photography with an inclusive background, meaning users get more in the frame and leave nothing out.
Commenting on the development, Moses Marji, General Marketing Managing E.A said:  “Addressing changing consumer needs as well as innovation that matches customers' tastes, have been key in driving success for this device as many customers wanted a smart phone that could easily deliver quality images and videos without tinkering with the treasured moments, and deliver on growth of their social currency”.
The front camera "with a 120-degree lens expands the selfie experience to take bigger pictures with even more friends while the rear camera with its 135-degree lens is perfect for taking pictures in front of, say, a gorgeous vista or inside a gigantic stadium,"  Mr. Marji explained .
The V20 is the first smartphone in the world to run on Google's latest Android mobile operating system called "Nougat" and adopts Google's new search app “In Apps”.
However, camera-makers are also hitting back by launching mirror-less cameras with a Wi-Fi function. These cameras have a lighter body than a digital single-lens reflex, and they allow changing of lenses.
The Wi-Fi function on these cameras makes it easy to share pictures online through social media, helping the camera makers fight their battle against the smartphones.

LG LEADING THE PACK IN PHOTOGRAPHY

The creation of photography in the past was one of the revolutionary inventions to ever take place. The capability of capturing and preserving a particular moment changed how we viewed ourselves and the surrounding world forever.
The progression of old-age photography to digital photography has brought about a positive impact on the advancement in the field of photography. Such ways are being able to capture instant moments without generating the film. But in this smartphone era, almost each and every person owning one has access to a camera. The potential in which smartphones have with cameras is limitless.
Without no doubt, ones preference in buying a phone is highly attributed in the quality of the camera it comes with. Mobile developers are coming up with innovative ways to enhance the customer experience by integrating the camera into various functions and applications. With inventions such as the selfie stick and clip-on lenses, developers will come up with inventions that we couldn’t possibly imagine of. “As a set pacer in the industry of mobile and camera innovation, we are always looking into the future to come up with the next great innovation” Mr. Moses Marji, General Marketing Manager for East Africa commented in a recent interview.
When videoconferencing was first introduced, nobody could possibly think it would translate to be used via a smart phone, but with the rapid growth of mobile technology, this has been made possible. Mobile phones have been able to build bridges between a person who live across great distances and is not only used for personal calls but also business meetings.
The LG G5 8 megapixel front camera is an example of such smartphones that can be used for videoconferencing. Issues such as lag time, faulty connections and pixelated videos are some of the errors you will definitely not find on this smartphone, setting the pace for other mobile developers.
The LG G5 release came with utmost praise of its wide-angle lens, a feature that was first of its kind in the range of smart phones. With its field view larger than the human eye, one doesn’t need to carry along their cameras to capture wide angle shots of images such as landscapes. Such innovative ideas by LG bring about consumer customer relations as ones needs are addressed.
With the growth of information technology rapidly growing, the need for sharing and receiving live footage has been on the rise. Live streaming applications such as Periscope and Snapchat have been on demand globally and have attracted big numbers from downloads. Live streaming is a combination of internet streaming services and with the appeal of live TV helping viewers to see events in real time. For this, one requires portable and unique devices that can cope with various kinds of situations.
This is why LG introduced the LG Action Cam a smart accessory which is dust and sand proof and can be used for up to 30 minutes under water. From skydiving to dirt bike racing, the capability of this high quality resolution camera is limitless. Once recorded, clips can be uploaded directly to the internet via 3G or 4G services cutting back on time using smartphones or laptops.
