Before the invention of the TV in 1927, most American homes only had access to one traditional form of communication - Radio. But with the invention of the TV in 1927 by Philo Taylor, the demand for TV’s rapidly grew.  By the 90’s, over 98% of U.S homes had at least one television set.

This birth of television was deemed as a breakthrough in the technology industry. With the average person spending five hours every day glued to TV, it goes to show the role it plays in our lives. From watching news to football matches and keeping up with what is trending in the modern world, Television paved the way to digital viewership.

Having come from the black and white form of TV transmission we have experienced a great transition of TV’s with each new version outdoing the previous one. In a battle to outdo the other, TV manufacturers have been neck to neck to come up with smarter, more colorful and slim televisions that will capture the consumers attention.

In recent years, television viewership has been changing as there has been a rapid rise in streaming services. This has made developers rethink how TV’s are being made hence the birth of smart TV’s. Statistics show that more than half of TV sets sold in 2017 are smart. LG, as a pioneer in the making of TV products have been able to develop one of the most unique smart and award winning TV’s of this generation.

They come equipped with the revolutionary webOS platform, providing users with instant access to a wide collection of content from live programming to popular streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video. With its Magic Remote feature that allows users access to all features, the Quick Access buttons help users to quickly select their favorite content. It also gives users the option of Intelligent Voice Recognition that conveniently provides users to issue voice commands.

In addition, the TV comes with another feature; Magic Link that simplifies the search process by playing the role of predictive text, making it easier to find the content you are looking for.

With no doubt, Smart TVs serve as the bridge between computers and traditional TVs. With the intelligent webOS, more viewers are able to experience TV like never before.

Speaking during the launch of the Smart TV edition in Nairobi, LG Marketing manager said, “With the rapid growth of technology advancement in the world, LG is committed to ensure that we are at par with the market needs with design leadership. Streaming services in the next few years will be at the fore-front of content in terms of viewership, and what better way than getting a TV that gives you the power in your hands as well as the best display options.”
